Anyone waffling on whether or not to join this challenge should check out the voting ballots from Locus for the Best Translation award. Dozens of titles are listed with novels, short stories, and collections included.
The lists, for me at least, are full of unfamiliar names.
Join up!

For anyone interested in translated science fiction, this might be an interesting project.

I didn't read a ton of translated fiction this year, but I did get a couple in.

Also - do you have a link to the survey results from that surveymonkey link? The survey itself has expired.

Vita Nostra by Maria and Sergey Dyachenko was definitely my favorite. Highly recommend to anyone who likes magic + academia. Maybe a good follow up read for fans of Ninth House?

Things We Lost in the Fire by Mariana Enriquez is a fascinating and disturbing short story collection from Argentina that I really enjoyed.

Hadriana in All My Dreams by Rene Desparte is a Haitian classic, apparently, but really wasn't for me. It was very dreamlike, but not in a good way. It was difficult to tell what was going on, and I don't think it was a result of the translation.
