I'm not the biggest fantasy fan, but some overlooked female authors' books...

JANNY WURTS MASTER OF WHITE STORM
Galley slave, mercenary, master of White Storm
His past is a mystery even to Haldeth, fellow galley slave and the one man hed allow to name him friend. Korendir had sworn that the future would give him the wealth to build an unbreachable citadel against dangers both mortal and sorcerous. And, again and again, Korendir dared the impossible, facing the perils of a wizard-cursed kingdom, the dangers on an elementals wrath, fatally poisonous attacks by a race of wereleopards, and finally winning the fortress he sought White Storm. But the siren call of danger would not let him rest in the stronghold hed so carefully built. And only time would tell whether death would defeat him before he found a prize far beyond riches the only treasure that could truly bring him peace...

Haven't read the entire series (it did get a bit boring)

KATHARINE KERR

Daggerspell (The Deverry Series Volume I) (1986)
Even as a young girl, Jill was a favorite of the magical, mysterious Wildfolk, who appeared to her from their invisible realm. Little did she know her extraordinary friends represented but a glimpse of a forgotten past and a fateful future. Four hundred years and many lifetimes ago, one selfish young lord caused the death of two innocent lovers. Then and there he vowed never to rest until he'd righted that wrong and laid the foundation for the lives of Jill and all those whom she would hold dear: her father, the mercenary soldier Cullyn; the exiled beserker Rhodry Maelwaedd; and the ancient and powerful herbman Nevyn, all bound in a struggle against darkness...and a quest to fulfill the destinies determined centuries ago.

Darkspell (The Deverry Series Volume II) (1988)
Inextricably bound to the fate of the land, Nevyn, Rhodry, and Jill struggle to unite the humans of Deverry with the mysterious and once-hostile race of Elves. But the sinister and powerful sorcerers of Annwn know that any alliance between the two races will threaten their own evil dominion and so they strike out against the union in an uneasy alliance of dark forces. Now the ancient and cunning wizard, Nevyn, must recue his comrades and the destiny of Deverry and save himself from Annwn's deadly magic...

Dawnspell: The Bristling Wood (The Deverry Series Volume III) (1989)
Over a thousand years ago the People of Deverry were driven from their splendid kingdom by their enemy, the Hordes, and forced to find sanctuary in the remote forests in the east of their lands where they eventually settled. Succeeding generations remembered these terrible events as the Burning and they never forgot the cities, towns, and mrvles of the far far west.

(US) The Dragon Revanent / (UK)Dragonspell: The Southern Sea (The Deverry Series Volume IV) (1990)
For years the provinces of Deverry have been in turmoil, but the conflict escalates to new heights with the kidnapping of Rhodry, heir to the throne of Aberwyn. Intent on rescuing him, his beloved Jill and the elven wizard Salamander infiltrate the distant land of Bardek, where Rhodry is held captive.
Tied to Deverry by bonds of obligation, the immortal wizard Nevyn begins to see that all its problems originate from a single source his ancient enemy, a master of dark magics, backed by a network of evil that stretches across the sea. With this realization, Nevyn understands that he too is being lured to Bardek, and into a subtle and deadly trap...

Surprised to see this one missing from the database.

Gregory Benford

The Martian Race (1999)
As NASA bogs down in politics, tycoon John Axelrod mounts a privately funded expedition to the Red Planet. Axelrod's not high-minded - he expects the televised flight to net him billions. But for astronaut-scientists Julie, Viktor, Marc, and Raoul, the mission's not about money. It's about discovery...and surviving for two years on a frigid alien world that can kill them in countless ways. For a time will come when in order to live the explorers must embrace everything that makes them human...and everything that will make them Martian.

I've mentioned this one previously when discussing the omission of Crighton and Alan Dean Foster.

James Kahn

James Kahn's books include the trilogy World Enough, And Time, Time's Dark Laughter, and Timefall and several film novelizations, including Return Of The Jedi and Poltergeist. He has also written for television. An emergency-room physician, he lives in Los Angeles.

The Time Series

1: World Enough, and Time (1980)
Joshua green the scribe and his friend, the centaur Beauty were at the beginning of a desert journey to find the creatures who had destroyed their homes and stolen their wives. Their quest would not be easy, for according to a mortally wounded witness, the attackers had included a Vampire, a Griffin, and a monstrous mutant. And between the hunters and the hunted lay the suspicious minions of King jarl the Bearman an army of intelligent animals and mythic beasts. Their forebears had been crafted centuries before by human genetic engineers who had unknowingly sown the seeds of their own destruction.
2: Time's Dark Laughter
3: Timefall

Unfortunately I've never found the last two books of the series

It's just one more book, right?  Ladies and gentlemen, it's official.  Greg is trying to kill me.  (He's got an accomplice in Blue gargoyle.

We've got at least 200 more books already on another list for the Shirley Jackson and Mythopoetic awards etc. - not to mention the 300 book covers we've already got ready to go in.  How do you eat an elephant?

Well,Dave,I have this teeny tiny list, only about 150 books long.I'm sure if you gave up sleeping altogether(dont think you get many hours anyway) it would be a trifling task...
No,no,only joking,Dave!.I think you are doing an amazing job, great to see a massive improvement on the horror side
But I think, unless you DO give up sleep, the GMRC is a lost cause for you

Hey all, these new books are on the list and we should have another big batch added soon. Thanks for your continued patience.

@bluegargoyle: That is a goal I understand! There are many books I personally want to add so I can mark 'em as read. I was excited when the request for the Homecoming series came in because I had forgotten I read all those.

@Dustydigger: I don't get as much sleep as I really need, who does these days, but I sleep really well when I've gotten a bunch more books added to the site and I see you guys tagging away! I'm glad you like the horror improvements and I can tell you we have another big one coming mid-month that I think will be a big hit.

I have read the first four Odd books. They are all OK but they all tend to jump around, lurching from fairly tame chapters to some real edge of the seat stuff.

I can remember all the sections that did it for me. When Koontz gets really creative its a pleasure to read, unfortunately the whole book is not as good as I remember from his early novels.

Worth reading however as they are memorable characters and you just gotta know what happens!
