Synopsis
Hugo and Nebula Award nominated short story. It originally appeared in Omni, January 1985. The story can also be found in the anthologies The Year's Best Science Fiction: Third Annual Collection (1986), edited by Gardner Dozois, Best SF of the Year #15 (1986), edited by Terry Carr and Best of the Best: 20 Years of the Year's Best Science Fiction (2005), edited by Gardner Dozios.
