Synopsis
In a dystopian future, can one young engineer defy time itself to reclaim his destiny among the stars?
Alan Corday, a young engineer-surveyor, finds himself caught in a harrowing journey through space aboard the Hound of Heaven. His quest for a better future on Mars is derailed by Captain Jocelyn, leading him into a voyage that challenges his understanding of time and his own identity.
Will Alan manage to navigate the complexities of high-speed travel and the emotional toll of leaving his past behind? Can he reconcile the changes in himself with the remnants of his former life upon returning to Earth?
This science fiction adventure explores the emotional and philosophical challenges of near-light-speed travel, as Alan's struggle for identity and belonging unfolds against the backdrop of a universe indifferent to human desires.
This story was serialized in February and March 1950 as To the Stars and first published in book form in 1954 as Return to Tomorrow.
