Synopsis
Sixteen thousand years from now, the galaxy is under attack from another spacetime continuum, a horrific realm of chaos known as the Beyond. The five Galactic Protectorates devote their lives to defending the galaxy’s Human Domain from the threat. Mishal Fernandez and Kira Sorenson are members of the Grey Sorority of Ummo, one of the five Protectorates.
When an Umbra – one of the horrifying shadow beings inhabiting the Beyond – emerges from a spacetime Portal on a vast space habitat, Mishal and Kira are dispatched to do battle with it and send it back to its nightmare realm. They succeed, but at a terrible Kira is seized and taken into the Beyond. Mishal is devastated, for there is no hope for anyone who suffers such a fate – at least, that is the universally held belief. Nevertheless, Mishal vows to find a way to bring Kira back – even at the risk of her freedom, her life, her very soul.
Mishal’s resolve sets in motion a train of events that will lead not only to a shattering revelation about the true nature of the Beyond, but will also reveal a new threat at the center of the Galaxy – a threat that could result in the annihilation of all life.
