History
The New American Library was founded in 1948 by Kurt Enoch and Victor Weybright, and Signet was one of their two primary imprints (the other being Mentor). The Signet imprint was known for its high literary backlist. NAL eventually ended up being owned by the Penguin Group. Today both the NAL and Signet imprints continue to be produced by Penguin.
