History
Beginning with the Polyphony series, Wheatland Press has established a reputation for publishing high quality trade paperback editions of literary science fiction and fantasy, primarily anthologies and single-author collections. In 2004, Wheatland Press was nominated for a World Fantasy Award.
Deborah Layne founded Wheatland Press in 2002 and has been co-editing the Polyphony series (with Jay Lake) ever since. Her own fiction has appeared in The Fortean Bureau, Flytrap and Indiana Review. She is a member of the Wordos Writers Workshop of Eugene, Oregon. Having earned degrees in history, philosophy, history and philosophy of science and law, she prefers to focus on speculative literature. Deborah lives in deepest, darkest Oregon with her family.
