Fantasy: Choose a Decade
For this challenge, read and review 12 books that were each published in one of these decades/periods:
- 19th century and earlier
- 1900 - 1959
- 1960s and 1970s
- 1980 - 1989
- 1990 - 1999
- 2000 - 2009
Alternatively, you can choose to focus on two or three decades instead of just one. Or you can cover all the decades and read a few books from each.
My idea here is to explore, in some way, the history of the fantasy genre. How has fantasy evolved over time? Does each decade exibit a trend in style, tropes, themes, etc.? Was there a particular time when you became interested in fantasy and are you interested in reading more books that were published during that period?
The "rules" are very flexible and you are more than welcome to do what you like with this challenge.
