Being soundly thrashed by the hero Emilia, the Devil King and his general beat a hasty retreat to a parallel universe... only to land smack in the middle of bustling, modern-day Tokyo! Lacking the magic necessary to return home, the two are forced to assume human identities and live average human lives until they can find a better solution. And to make ends meet, Satan finds gainful employment at a nearby fast food joint! With his devilish mind set on working his way up the management food chain, what will become of his thirst for conquest?!

Sadao Maou, the Devil King, has finally been promoted to store manager! And who should move in next door to his fortress (actually a tiny studio apartment in a dingy walk-up) but a lovely kimono-wearing lass. But the former devil-crushing hero Emi Yusa is none too pleased with this turn of events, to say nothing of high schooler Chiho Sasaki, who's still nursing a terrible crush on the Devil King. Meanwhile a Sentucky Fried Chicken has opened up right across the street from Maou's beloved MgRonald! It's the first real test of his managerial prowess, and he's facing a pay cut unless he can top Sentucky's sales! Between the two new neighbors, the Devil King's troubles are anything but part-time!

A portal opens in the courtyard of the Devil's Castle (a tiny walk-up). From it emerges a little girl who calls the Devil King "papa" and the Hero "mama." Ashiya and Chiho are shocked to discover that Maou and Emi had that kind of relationship, but nobody's more surprised than the two new "parents." Will Maou the breadwinner be able to make the grade when it comes to child rearing? And will this spell the end of the starry-eyed Emi's romantic ambitions?

With his beloved MgRonald closed for renovations, the Devil King's out of work! Worse, the apartment he shares at Villa Rosa Sasazuka has gotten damaged thanks to his fight with Gabriel, which means the household has to temporarily vacate the premises. Having lost both his title and his vast land holdings, the Devil King takes a part-time job at his landlady's niece's beach house--and of course Chiho and Emi insist on coming along. It's summertime at the beach, but the Devil's still got work to do...!

With the repairs to his dingy one-bedroom apartment completed, Maou needs a new TV, so... the Devil's going digital! The trouble is, Maou and Ashiya don't know the first thing about flat-screens, so they bring Emi's friend Rika along with them to the local big-box electronics outlet. For some reason, Suzuno ends up coming along, and it turns into a shopping tour with the whole gang!

The fast-food joint that the Devil King calls his workplace has reopened, now with a hip café space upstairs--the perfect chance for the overlord of all demons to earn a few new certifications and work his way up to management. Meanwhile, Chiho, whose love for the Devil King remains doggedly unrequited, discusses ways with Emi to learn how to master the Idea Link, a skill that could let her telepathically communicate across worlds and call for help whenever she makes contact with a nefarious demon... or angel, for that matter. Suzuno steps up to serve as her teacher... but her choice of training areas (a public bath) leaves the others to question her sanity. It's the sixth volume of this low-wage high fantasy, where soap bubbles fly and everyone may come out less than squeaky clean!

A door-to-door fraudster arrives in the neighborhood, swindling Urushihara! Already strapped for cash, Maou visits the office to contest the transaction, only to find himself tongue-tied at their vehement refusal! Unable to face the heat, is Maou truly out forty-five thousand yen?! Not if the Hero has anything to say about it... Other adventures await Maou and the crew in this volume of short stories--from becoming new cat owners to a family shopping trip to the story of how Chiho met Maou.

For the Hero, whose mission is to slay the Devil King, Emilia Justina appears to have gone soft. She travels to Ente Isla with Alas Ramus to sort through her thoughts and investigate what's happened there since she went to Japan. The gang expects to see Emi again soon, but she never returns! Meanwhile, Maou (the Devil King) is studying for his driver's license, trying not to fret over the Hero's disappearance. On the way to his exam, he meets a strangely familiar pair... Could they know something about Emi?!

When Emilia the Hero is in danger, she finds an unlikely ally in the Devil King! Unfortunately, with Ashiya kidnapped by Gabriel, the team is seriously lacking in manpower. Maou and Suzuno partner up on a rescue mission, traveling undercover through Ente Isla, while a mysterious girl claiming to be Alas Ramus's younger sister tags along. Meanwhile, Emi and Alas Ramus get caught up in the middle of Olba's schemes. The barriers between angels, demons, and humans-and ideas about who's good and who's evil-come crashing down!

Maou and Suzuno traveled to Ente Isla to rescue Emi and Ashiya, but for some reason... the Devil King never recovered his powers! Still stuck in his human form with Acieth, how is Maou going to save anyone?

To add insult to injury, Maou confronts Emi with an invoice for "expenses incurred" during the rescue. Emi is shocked, but her pride as the Hero means she can't abide being indebted to a demon. Soon, she's dipping into her savings and searching for a new job to pay her tab. Meanwhile, Urushihara has been sequestered in a hospital, where his body undergoes frightening changes... just as Maou (shockingly!) refuses to go to work?!

The Hero and her angelic mother may no longer be at each other's throats, but that doesn't mean Emi and Laila are suddenly getting along. The whole situation is a pain for Maou, especially with Laila constantly pestering him for help, claiming the fate of an entire planet is at stake! When the Devil King finally decides (for Emi's sake) to lend a hand, Chiho can't help feeling a bit jealous, and she is plagued by the fear that her friends might return to Ente Isla, leaving her behind. As Chiho wrestles with her emotional demons, Rika-fresh off an explosive date with Ashiya-wants to gossip about a totally different sort of demon!

It's the middle of winter, and the Devil King is training in the hopes of transitioning from part-timer to full-timer. However, his plan hits a road block when Emi's mother, Laila, informs Maou and the whole group about a crisis affecting all of Ente Isla. And his full-time job isn't the only thing that might be put on hold-Emeralda and Chiho are planning to throw a Christmas party for Alas Ramus's first winter holiday experience! On top of that, Rika's feelings for Ashiya remain, giving him pause about leaving Japan, and Urushihara couldn't care less about the past of the angels and the tragedy of the heavens. Are the visitors from another world really going to leave Japan for good?!

To fight Ignora, Maou's group must restore Devil's Castle to its former glory. However, because of his schedule at MgRonald, Maou needs to save time on his commute by staying in Japan. While he's stuck there, Suzuno, Laila, Albert, and Rumack travel to the Northern Continent to retrieve the Spear of Adramelechinus. Maou, unable to help them-and living the bachelor life, alone in his apartment for the first time-receives chocolate from a work trainee, but how will the other women in Maou's life react to that news?! The Devil King faces off against his next enemy: Valentine's Day!

A new obstacle has appeared before the Devil King-his career advancement has been denied, to the dismay of his human and heavenly coworkers. Still, Maou doesn't have time to be down in the dumps. A weakened Camio returns with the whereabouts of the final item needed in their assault on heaven. On top of that, MgRonald manager Kisaki received a transfer order and will be leaving Maou's location in totally new hands! With the Devil King's plans to become a full-timer quashed, will he even stay in Japan much longer?

Acieth has been exhibiting strange symptoms for quite a while, and now her sister Alas Ramus's condition is worsening, too! To aid in their care, the Devil King convinces Emi to let him stay at her apartment in Eifukucho. Between the slippers he's been provided, the large refrigerator, and the fact there's an honest-to-goodness bath in the place, Maou is floored by how different the Hero's abode is compared with his spartan, one-room Devil's Castle... as the group becomes the world's strangest nuclear family. Meanwhile, preparations over on Ente Isla are entering their final phase. Will their ersatz rocket ship successfully take to the skies, at last enabling the invasion of the heavenly reams?

With their modifications to turn Devil's Castle into a rocket ship finally complete, Maou and the rest of the Ente Islans prepare to mount an assault on heaven. Before that happens, though, there's something the Devil King needs to take care of--fessing up to Chiho's dad about just what the heck he's roped her into! What revelations await Maou and company high above the sky? Can they really take down a god? And at the end of it all, what will become of the lives they've worked so hard to scrape together in Japan?
