2014 Detective SFF Challenge
Cross-genre fiction constitutes a perhaps surprising amount of SF/F/H literature. Some of the most common examples are fantasy romances, SF westerns, and--the subject of this particular challenge--detective and/or mystery SF/F/H.
Popular detective SFF novels include:
- Dirk Gently series by Douglas Adams
- The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher
- The Yiddish Policemen's Union by Michael Chabon
- Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? by Philip K. Dick
- Matthew Swift series by Kate Griffin
- Retrieval Artist series by Kristine Kathryn Rusch
- Small Change series by Jo Walton
- Detective Inspector Chen series by Liz Williams
For this challenge, read 12 detective SF/F/H novels and write 6 reviews. Since so many of these books are eligible for other challenges (e.g. Read the Sequel) that WWEnd readers might already be participating in, I've chosen to backdate the start of this challenge to January 2014. The challenge won't end until December 2015, though, so even if you don't get a headstart as a result of the backdating, you should still have plenty of time to fit your books in.
